It’s an advent calendar!

Each day, a new download will be available on this page. The PDF will start with one square, and keep growing until there are 24 in total. The theme has no pop-culture references, so it’s accessible for every fandom. Of course, in being an advent, it does carry the theme of Christmas.

Here’s a preview of the floss colours and lengths involved:

Of course, you can always switch things out a little bit. As you can see, I’m working on 16 count sparkle Aida, using all shades of blues for a nice frosty effect.

On 14 count Aida, it will be perfect for 8″x10″. Each daily square release will be 20 stitches high and 20 stitches wide, so theoretically you can stitch a square a day! The pattern will use full cross stitch, as well as backstitching for outlines and detailing.

As usual, I’ve put together a little treasury in keeping with FPF’s theme. There’s some great Canadiana on Etsy, and here’s just a sampling:

Full disclosure: The Nibs and I have been married for almost 15 years. We’ve been shacked up for over 17. We have not once been away together, and our separate “vacations” were to deal with deaths/weddings/dramarama of the family variety. We didn’t even get a honeymoon, because when the Brits invade, they expect to be shown the sights. Also? I have not so much as been inside a tent before this week. It’s been a brand new experience, but I liked it.

If it hadn’t rained for 95% of our trip, I would have labelled it a great vacation, but that didn’t happen. Instead we were either rushing to escape a downpour, or battling Deer Fly and Mosquitoes when the rain did finally lift. We really tried to suck it up, but after a point all the fun is gone, you know? Did I manage to relax? Yes. Did we laugh and watch Watty go bananas for the lake? Yes. Do we wish we’d delayed a trip for further into the summer? Absolutely.

I guess we’ll try again in August.

It was Woofstock this weekend, so we took a wander down today. It was Watson’s first big outing since his surgery, and he did really well! He wasn’t too tired, there was no limping, he didn’t get remotely phased by the crowds/noise/transportation options (car! subway! streetcar!)… and he’s now sleeping it off. I don’t expect to hear from him for a few hours!

Winter Woofstock is nice. It’s indoors, clean and organized. Not to mention that it’s not that busy because there’s an admittance fee. Summer Woofstock was kind of crazy and I don’t know if we’ll bother next year. I was so busy fighting the crowds that I forgot to take pictures. Boo!

I love the recent revival of Twin Peaks love, thanks to Netflix. I remember watching the show each week in my bedroom on a dodgy little portable tv. My little brother insisted on sneaking out of his room to watch it with me, even though he hid his face for most of the episode. One of a kind!
